Elma A. Toy

Toy, Elma A. age 97 formerly of Newton died Monday evening August 25th at the Andover Nursing Home following a long illness. Born in Springfield, NJ she had lived most of her life in Newton, NJ.             Daughter of the late Charles A. and May (Fest) Thom, Elma grew up at the Newton Country Club where her father was the course professional.  An avid and active member of the Newton Country Club, she and her late husband Clifford T. Toy (1976) won many club tournaments and awards. A graduate of the Newton High School class of 1928, Elma was a homemaker and had worked over twenty two years with the former Limecrest Corp. Andover, NJ.             A member of the Christ Episcopal Church Newton, Elma was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Toy enjoyed, and was quite talented at knitting and needle point.  Elma was pre deceased by her two sisters Virginia Graham and Marie Duck, as well as her brother Arthur Thom and a godson Robert Duck.             Survivors include her god son Ernest A. Duck of Hamburg, as well as many nieces and nephews.            Funeral Services will be held Thursday August 28th, 2008 at 11:00 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home 156 Main Street, Newton, NJ.  Interment will follow in the Newton Cemetery. Visitation will be held in funeral home Thursday morning from 9-11AM.

Our Aunt Elma was an inspiration to all she touched in this life. She changed the way things are with caring and compassion. She was without a doubt a heavy influence on my life. May God wrap his loving arms around her in eternity and I shall see her again in high places. Yes she called me Denny!

My Aunt Elma was a very caring and loving person. She had 1 brother and 2 sisters. My Mom was the youngest in her family. She treated us with love and kindness always.
