Anthony V. Lentini, Sr.

Lentini, Anthony V. Sr. age 79 of Stillwater Twp., NJ died peacefully with his loving family by his side Tuesday August 4th, 2009 at his home in Stillwater, NJ. Born in Brooklyn, NY he grew up in Queens. Anthony had lived in Swartswood, NJ for many years until retiring to Summerville, SC, then in 2008 moved back to Stillwater Twp. Son of the late Joseph and Lucy (Ferrara) Lentini, Anthony was a graduate of the Franklin K. Lane High School Queens, NY class of 1947. He began his thirty five year career as a Letter Carrier for the US Postal Service in Jamaica, NY and was later transferred to Newton NJ where he retired in 1987. Mr. Lentini had served as the President of the Local 38 Postal Workers Union. A US Army Veteran, Anthony served during the Korean War. An antique car enthusiast, he enjoyed his three classic car restorations. A former member of the Newton Moose Lodge, Anthony was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather sibling and uncle who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.Pre deceased by a nineteen month old granddaughter Abbie Y. Diamond in 1983, survivors include his loving wife of fifty seven years Joan (Rudtner) Lentini, his beloved family Barbara A. and husband John Diamond of Thornton, NH, Donna M. and husband Paul Scheibner of Stillwater, Joseph F. Lentini of Summerville, SC, Lucy C. and husband Robert Cartabona of Deerfield, NH, Anthony V. Jr. and wife Heidi Lentini of Hampton Twp., and Monica and husband John Jewell of Sussex, NJ. Also surviving are his sister Tina Spatarella of Stillwater, as well as his fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.    

Funeral services will be held Saturday August 8th, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Route 206) Newton, NJ. Visitation will be held Friday August 7th at the Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice #532 Lafayette Rd. Sparta, NJ 07871.

Here are some special memories shared by family and friends.
We are so sorry for the entire Lentini family. Tony and Joan are extensions of our family and we love them very much. Our mother spent many pleasant Sunday dinners with Tony and Joan and we will always remember Tony sitting at the head of the table always ready with a joke, a comment or a laugh. He was Blakeley's adopted grandfather and she loved him very much. He was always in good spirits no matter how he felt. He will be missed so much for his wit, his charm and his friendship.
