Here are some special memories shared by family and friends.
My sincere condolences to Lisa and Susie and their respective families. Your Dad was "neat" man as I got to know him over the past few years on my trips back to Kemah Lake. I will forever remember the stories he would tell of sneaking into Yankee games as a young lad or the 25 cent ticket prices when he did have to pay. As I sit in my backyard with my cup of coffee and look at the many birdhouses and elves he painted for me, I will always have wonderful thoughts of our chats we had when I walked next door from Jean's house to visit him. As the many Rose of Sharons continue to grow, I will always think back to when your Dad and I would dig them up in his yard, when they were just little trees, for me to bring back to Green Bay. Thank you, Mr. Cirigliano, for all those great stories and the memories. A little bit of you will always be here in my backyard. Bob Prall Green Bay, Wisconsin

I new Al from my infancy. He was always a very caring and giving individual. He always took the time out of his day to say hello and have a chat. He regularly visited my Grandmother, Olga Balkau, and the two looked out for each other. He would send over veggies to her house from his garden and she would share the news with him. He will be sorely missed by all. I send my love to his family, and send the thought that now he and Geraldine are reunited for eternity.

Dear Lisa, Susi, and family: Words cannot express how sorry we are to learn of your Dad's passing. We would see him "out and about" and admired his vitality. He was always proud of his girls and we are sure you must find comfort in that fact. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Jay and Mary Jane Westra

Lisa and Susie it has been almost 15 years since I last saw you and your families and would never forget you, especially at this important time in your lives. I just want to offer my heart felt condolences to you and yours. Your Dad always made me laugh and was a really great guy. That can be also seen by the two wonderful daughters he raised to carry on his legacy. I will be sure to honor your request to make a memorial in his name to the KAQ Center. All my Love to you Ed Fransen Roaring Creek, Pa.

We wish to send you out deepest sympathies in the passing of your father. We will always remember him having Sunday breakfast with you(we are there each Sunday). He would always smile and say hello as you all left. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Marilyn and Melissa Fox (from 5 Star Diner)

I will miss having chats with Al about family, gardening, what airport jets flying overhead were from. We would get into arguments about the jets. He would always say they were coming from Boston most of the time. He loved whenever I brought him a traditional Italian dish, or just shared a meal in general and the occasional sweet treat. About a couple of months ago the power went out and I made spaghetti on my gas stove for him and my other neighbor as they were all electric. As soon as I finished cooking, the power came back on, but we all got to eat a hot meal that night. He gave me many a birdhouse and painted a couple of gourds for me which I will cherish and remember him always. I look over across the street and think I will see him sitting on the front lawn and waiting for him to show me his garden. I will miss him dearly. Ti amo e manchilo Salvatore. Il dio lo benedice.

I met Al in 1986 when I moved to Kemah Lake. I would be outside my home doing something & he would always stop by to chat & maybe give me some advice on what I was working on. He made me feel so very welcome to the small community at kemah. Later I had moved to Stillwater but still had the house at kemah & would still see Al. I had the privalge of getting to know him. He was a GREAT storyteller. I loved to hear his stories of the past. After being away from kemah I moved back some 10 yrs later & got to know Al even more. I can say he will be always remembered as a truly nice & honest person whom I will always remember & miss. He was a quiet man who had much knowledge who I loved to listen to. He has a lovely family and I'm sure that they are because he was, is,& will always be a truly special person who will be missed by many.
