Chris, Jim, Tara & Priya - There are no words to express the sorrow in all our hearts for the loss of AJ. I had received the poem "Dash" and wanted to share this with all of you. My thought and prayers are with all of you. Love, Lynne & Carol The Dash by Linda Ellis I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on his tombstone From the beginning to the end. He noted that first came the date of his birth And spoke of the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time That he spent alive on earth And now only those who loved him Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, The cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard; Are there things youâ??d like to change? For you never know how much time is left That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider whatâ??s true and real And always try to understand The way other people feel. And be less quick to anger And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like weâ??ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect And more often wear a smile, Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while. So when your eulogy is being read With your lifeâ??s actions to rehash Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash?
Lynne Cohen

I remember taking care of AJ as one of his many nurses. He was the quiet warrior. Always had a smile and never saw him display any emotions other than that warm smile. Through a tough battle, he never seemed defeated and although his earthly body succumbed to this unknown entity called cancer and is no longer here, his spirit will live on in those whom he has touched with his gentle strength, love, and friendship.

Hi Chris, I was so very sorry to here about your son, if anybody knows what your going through, I do. It's been 9 years (he would have been 22) since my son left us and the pain is still there, you just learn to live with it. Hold your family close and draw from each other, treasure the memories and the fun times he brought you, don't dwell on the bad (it's hard) it took my wife, daughter and me sometime for that to sink in. Please call me and let me know when you come back. thinking of you. Dave Caetano

I saw it everytime we talked or cried. That love will never go away and the memories will keep him close. AJ and I were best friends from age 6 through high school. Every childhood memory I have, AJ was a part of: walking to school together, riding bikes, making our tree fort and go-carts, playing football, baseball, street hockey, basketball, going sledding, skiing, delivering his papers, driving to school every day. A thought does not come to mind where AJ wasn't in my life. We laughed, we fought, we hugged, we cried together. We were brothers. AJ will always have a place in my heart. My deepest sympathy to the entire Donnellan/Luft Family. Rest in Peace, Age. You will be missed.

To all those who knew & loved AJ - I am truly sorry for your loss. I thank all those who have loved us & supported us through these last few months. AJ & I met when neither of us was looking. An instant connection was made & a bond created that only got stronger with each day. Despite the challenges & obstacles we faced - we vowed to love each other with no regrets. Our love was the simple kind - the kind that means the most. A day never past without me hearing the words everyone wants to hear "I love you" & at a time like this I can't begin to express how much that means. People have said I am the reason he overcame so much & lived alot longer than expected, but the truth is that he fought to have time to love me & the others in his life that meant the most. My heart breaks at knowing I wont hear his voice or feel his touch ever again, but I am so grateful that he is at peace. Our story could be thought of as tragic, but I would like to think of it as special & true. We never got to have the life we planned with each other, but we created a lifetime of wonderful memories. To AJ's family: Tina, Jim, Tara, Andy, Liz, & Ashley - please know that I loved AJ with all of my heart & soul. I hope my actions have made you proud & I hope you know how much I care for you all. I did my best to make him laugh & smile & during these final months & those moments are the ones we hopefully all will remember. AJ's love will give us all the strength to go on. AJ -you were my everything. I will miss you forever.....Priya (AJ's fiancee)

AJ was a good friend and co-captain of the wrestling team in high school. He taught me that anyone can improve exponentially when their mind was set on accomplishing a goal. He went from a barely varsity wrestler his freshmen year to a state champion and co-captain overnight. This was a major lesson for me at that time in my life although I never did tell him. I hope he knows the influence he provided to me and many other teammates and friends. We had many good times outside of school as friends and I am honored to say I knew AJ. I remember a conversation I had with AJ. It was the enthusiastic attitude AJ had in telling me how he had trained his first dog "Maxine". AJ related to me his patience and dedication in his method of training the dog, which certainly paid off, because the dog acted almost human. We will certainly miss AJ's gusto for life,my sympathy goes out to Tara, Jim, and Tara

To all of AJ's family and friends: I am deeply saddened to lose a great friend. My wife Kim and I loved AJ like a brother and shared many of our lives' best moments with him. From life with him at TKE through to current times AJ was always one of our favorite people to see and be around. Nobody had a better smile or could just speak the plain truth about things than AJ. I am so grateful he got to meet and know my son Ryan and daughter Emma. And to know he also made an impact on Ryan in such a positive way will always make me smile when I think about him. To all of those who in some way suffered along with him and aided him in his battle, you are all to be thanked for your remarkable efforts. We'll never forget you AJ,thanks for being such a good friend; we miss you very much already. Matt and Kim Turse

To Priya and all of AJ's family, AJ was truly an amazing person who lived life to the fullest. No matter what he was going through he always had a smile on his face. He is an inspiring human being who has changed so many peoples lives. Priya you took care of him so well and he told me many, many times how much he appreciated that and how much he loves you. AJ you will never be forgotten. "Those who stand tall stand forever."

Dear Tina, Andy, Ashley, and Kirsten: Although I haven't seen any of you in a long while, my thoughts and condolences are deep and sincere. Based on the tributes I read, AJ turned out to be a wonderful human being. I had this sad/wonderful flash of a memory of the three year old in my child care class making his first friend: Mookie. My wish for you is that someday ...soon...you will smile when you think of him, and you will think of him often. fondly, Deidra

AJ came into our lives about two years ago but we consider that short time as a blessing for us. He made our daughter Priya so happy and wished it had gone on. AJ's generosity was an inspiration to us. He lived his life with integrity and bravery. He was a fighter till the very end. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of AJ's loved ones.

Without a doubt, AJ added joy, wisdom, love, guidance, inspiration, and most of all friendship to so many people. Christine & Family: This poem has given me comfort in times of sorrow. I hope it gives you the same comfort. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I am not there, I did not die. Love, Buddy & Karen
