Caterina Sucameli

Caterina (Calvaruso) Sucameli, 76, died Friday morning, April 24th, 2009. Born in Sicily, Italy, Caterina moved to Ridgewood, Queens, NY in 1969 moving to Newton 11 years ago. Daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Messana) Calvaruso. She was married to the late Tommaso Sucameli until his death in 1995.

Caterina was a devoted and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor to all who knew her. Survivors include her sons, Sep and his wife Sanora Sucameli of Hampton Twsp., NJ, Joseph and his wife Denise Sucameli of Green Twsp, NJ and Anthony Sucameli of Newton, NJ as well as her daughter, Maria Sucameli of East North Port, NY. Caterina is also survived by her eight cherished grandchildren.

Funeral services for Caterina will be held Monday, April 27th, 2009 at 9:30 AM at St. Josephs RC Church, Newton, NJ. Visitation will be Sunday, April 26th, 2009 at the Iliff-Ruggiero Funeral Home, 156 Main Street (Route 206) Newton, NJ from 2 to 4 PM and from 7 to 9 PM.

I was saddened to read of the loss of your mother. Even though I've lived next door for 10 years, I never really got to know her except to say hello and chat once in a while. But she always had a smile for me and never complained about my noisy kids and dog running around her backyard. I could tell just by looking at her that she was a beautiful, kind person.
